Material deformation and cracking during the metal stamping process
2025-04-08(237)
Problem Description:
During the stamping process, the material undergoes uneven deformation or cracks appear, which seriously affects the quality and performance of the stamped parts.
Cause Analysis:
The stamping process parameters are unreasonable. For example, an excessively fast stamping speed, too high pressure, a too high drawing ratio, etc., lead to the material deformation exceeding its limit. The plasticity of the material itself is poor, making it unsuitable for this stamping process. The fillet radius of the die is too small, causing stress concentration.
Solution:
Optimize the stamping process parameters. According to the properties of the material and the shape of the stamped parts, reasonably adjust parameters such as the stamping speed, pressure, and drawing ratio. Select appropriate materials. For stamped parts with complex shapes, materials with good plasticity and high elongation should be selected. Appropriately increase the fillet radius of the die to reduce stress concentration. Generally, the fillet radius of the bending die should be no less than twice the thickness of the material.
